Electrical Engineer
Port Lavaca, Texas (Onsite)
About the role
We are looking for an electrical engineer to lead the electrical and controls side of our projects. You will work alongside our mechanical, civil, structural and survey staff in the same office, and you will see your designs get built. This is an on site position in our Port Lavaca office.
What you will work on
- Power and protection. Power distribution, lighting, grounding and lightning protection, and cathodic protection, both sacrificial and impressed current.
- Instrumentation and controls. Controls architecture and network design, PLC, remote I/O and HMI/SCADA, and alarm, interlock and emergency shutdown philosophy.
- P&IDs and process controls. Read and mark up piping and instrumentation diagrams, and turn them into instrument indexes, I/O lists, loop diagrams and control narratives that match what the process needs.
- Equipment integration. VFD, MCC and packaged equipment integration, with in house panel design and shop checkout.
- Terminal controls. Truck and rail loading, tank gauging and custody transfer, pump and valve sequencing, batching, metering skids, marine loading and ESD, vapor collection and destruction, and fire protection interfaces.
- Marine electrical. MCC buildings, operator shelters and emergency auto-start standby generators.
- In the field. PLC programming, field checkout and loop checks, and commissioning and startup support.
Responsibilities
- Prepare electrical and controls designs, calculations, drawings and specifications.
- Build one-line diagrams, load and short circuit studies and equipment sizing in ETAP.
- Work with our designers in AutoCAD based 3D design.
- Coordinate with the mechanical, civil and structural team so every discipline fits together.
- Review P&IDs with our mechanical and process team so instrumentation and control intent are clear before design starts.
- Visit sites for field verification, construction support, checkout and startup.
- Review vendor submittals and help with bids and procurement.
- Take part in our QA/QC program, including in house reviews before drawings go out.
- Talk directly with clients about scope, schedule and technical questions.
What we are looking for
- BS in electrical engineering from an ABET accredited program.
- Ideally a Texas PE with about 4 years of electrical design experience.
- Working knowledge of P&IDs, instrumentation and control strategies, and the ability to follow a process from the P&ID through to the control system.
- Industrial, marine or terminal experience is a plus.
- ETAP and AutoCAD experience is a plus.
- Comfortable on plant sites, docks and terminals, and able to travel to job sites when a project needs it.
- You must be willing to relocate to the Port Lavaca area.

Structural Engineer

About the role
We are looking for a structural engineer to lead the structural side of our projects. You will work alongside our mechanical, civil, electrical and survey staff in the same office, and you will see your designs get built. This is an on site position in our Port Lavaca office.
What you will work on
- Foundations. Equipment, tank and truck bay foundations, metal building foundations, and slabs and pads for industrial sites.
- Steel and concrete structures. Pipe racks, equipment supports, platforms, stairs and access structures, and loading rack structures.
- Docks and marine structures. Docks, wharves, bulkheads and other marine structures for liquid and bulk terminals.
- Buildings. Industrial and commercial buildings, MCC buildings and operator shelters.
- Inspection and assessment. Structural inspections and condition assessments of existing structures, with repair recommendations.
- In the field. Site visits, field verification and construction support.
Responsibilities
- Prepare structural designs, calculations, drawings and specifications.
- Use structural analysis and design software for steel, concrete and foundation design.
- Work with our designers in AutoCAD based 3D design.
- Coordinate with the mechanical, civil and electrical team so every discipline fits together.
- Visit sites for field verification, inspections and construction support.
- Review shop drawings and vendor submittals, and help with bids and procurement.
- Take part in our QA/QC program, including in house reviews before drawings go out.
- Seal structural drawings and calculations as the engineer of record.
- Talk directly with clients about scope, schedule and technical questions.
What we are looking for
- BS in civil or structural engineering from an ABET accredited program.
- Texas PE required, with experience in structural design for industrial, marine or commercial work.
- Working knowledge of steel and concrete design (AISC and ACI) and foundation design.
- Experience with foundations, pipe racks, equipment supports or marine structures is a plus.
- Experience with structural analysis and design software and AutoCAD is a plus.
- Comfortable on plant sites, docks and terminals, and able to travel to job sites when a project needs it.
- You must be willing to relocate to the Port Lavaca area.
